Here's old, outdated reconstruction of a tanystropheid - where it's elongate cervical (neck) vertebra were treated as extension of phalanges (pterosaur wings). Now it's accepted they likely were long-necked aquatic animals, based on its wonderful fossils (check out its skull!)

... The Hallucigenia Pokemon - Psychic
Its primitive brain should not be capable of psychic power, yet it can create an odd, hallucinatory space around it when threatened. Even studying its fossils had anomalous effects that inflicts confusion onto researchers.

@SpinoDragon145 We have some fossils preserving soft tissue (including a polyctylid) showing plesiosaurs actually had pretty slim necks and that most of the fat was around the tail and front flippers
In James E Allen’s ‘Corythosaurus’ (1938), two dinosaurs are depicted next to a lake. The image is from a group of six lithographs of prehistoric monsters commissioned by Sinclair Refining Company. #FossilFriday #Dinosaurs #Fossils
I ❤️ marsupials, especially weird fossils, but I can't deny they aren't as diverse as placentals. Our new@RSocPublishing paper, out today & led by @grumpyDrFabre, uses jaw shape to show they also evolve more slowly, likely due to developmental constraints https://t.co/8GbDV2GarN
The majority of textbooks describe the Ndutu skull as "Homo heidelbergensis". With some other African fossil crania, such as the Kabwe and Bodo skulls, there is at least a set of features that they share with European "H. heidelbergensis" fossils like the Petralona skull.

Exciting research out today! Newly discovered specimens of Unenlagia comahuensis (Paraves) reveal derived traits that Unenlagia and kin share with birds, lending support to the interpretation that unenlagiids are stem‐Avialae.

#SauropterygianSaturday? Ok, here are mine: the henodontid placodont Parahenodus atancensis, the simosaurid Paludidraco Parahenodus (we described both taxa back in 2018, from fossils recovered from the Upper Triassic site of El Atance, Spain), and the nothosaur Brevicaudosaurus.
#FossilFriday Paraceratherium bugtiense is type species of genus Paraceratherium. The fossils were found in the Chitarwata Formation of Pakistan(Oligocene). Not like its gigantic cousin,Pa. bugtiense is smaller. But it was still the largest mammals in Pakistan at that time.
