super useful info! this is the reconstruction I did for the cleveland museum of natural history. I left the skull plates a bit more visible though

Absolutely. Something I rarely see mentioned in this debate is that we *do* have accurate depictions of what some of the painted sculptures looked like, thanks to Roman trompe-l'oeil in Pompeii like this one. It is indeed more subtle than most reconstructions.

i will never give up the first AI failed cuz the image res is 128x128 AI struggle to reconstruct it the second one failed cuz it was too blurry and when it confused it start coloring everything gray, this approach maybe fix it by splitting the images in half top and bottom

Admittedly, part of the reason why is many people just haven't been exposed to proper reconstructions of fluffy non-bird dinos.

They hear "feathered dinosaur" and imagine a crocodile-faced bipedal lizard with rainbow macaw feathers glued to its body, instead of stuff like this:

I'm very curious about this, since I've just reconstructed Suchomimus and Cristatusaurus with pelican/crocodylian-like throat pouches. But if the dentaries were that close together, would it mean such pouches couldn't be present as far forward along the snout?

Reitmeyer et al (2021) provide a unique look at the women working on palaeoart at the AMNH in the early C20th. Margret Joy Flinsch Buba reconstructed Proboscidea and went on to sculpt Pope Paul VI. And here’s Elisabeth Rungius Fulda’s (what a name) beautiful 1923 Baluchitherium.

Ravage was originally designed for hard-light reconstruction/rescue operations, until an intergalactic war broke out and he was converted into a heavy-support combat unit. After some time he said "this is bullshit" and left. He's wanted across many galaxies

Part 3 of the lowpoly pachycormid skulls, this time of Martillichthys renwickae. This is based primarily off of my reconstruction of NHMUK PV P.61563 as redescribed in Dobson et al. (2021).

Study of a Dodo and a Guinea-pig, 1847.

I love the Dodo, have done so since I saw a reconstruction of one during a school visit to a local museum.

I like to imagine that these two pals had some grand adventures.
