The Sea King went to the church where Agneta had gone, pleading with her to return. But Agneta remained steadfast in prayer, refusing to even look at him. It's a very interesting embodiment of the tensions between pagan and Christian cultures.

"Undine" - one of the best loved books of the 19th century.

Adapted from the works of Paracelcus & the original tale of 'Melusine', the water spirit, who loved a knight & married to gain a human soul.

Must watch: the beautiful Irish film 'Ondine'.

'Who would be
A mermaid fair,
Singing alone,
Combing her hair
Under the sea,
In a golden curl
With a comb of pearl,
On a throne?

I would be a mermaid fair;
I would sing to myself the whole of the day...'
-Lord Tennyson
