Oxfordian Fauna of the Shishugou Formation, Part 1: Kryptodrakon and Aorun.
Kryptodrakon is a smallish basal pterodactyloid, while Aorun was a likely basal Alvarezsauroid. Both were small, generalist feeders whose groups legacies will go on to produce myriad bizarre forms.
The Pteros families expand with the addition of Lagerpeton. Paleontologists think that animals like lagerpetids might be ancestors of pterosaurs.

Kaimi in the Adventure Time style for today. (Along with a Quetzalcoatlus, best known as one of the largest flying pterosaurs that lived during the age of the dinosaurs).
P.S: Congrats on 200 followers, @NobodyTriple!
Pteranodon deserves a repost… mostly because I’m loving the water effects in this one. (And I’m currently doing some similar water effects in the next pterosaur piece)

A LOT of teeth. This is Tacuadactylus luciae a Ctenochasmatid pterosaur from Late Jurassic South America
In honor of the new paper about the feathery coverings of pterosaurs, please enjoy this piece of #sciart I did way back in 2009 using @GIMP_Official depicting a Tupandactylus imperator in hornbill colors!

A paleoartist who deserves way more love in my opinion is DeviantArt user "Kutchicetus-Minimus". They have some of the most original, beautiful-looking pterosaurs I've seen.

However being near the Southern end of the globe, this environment experienced months of 24 hr sun in the Summer and months of Winter darkness. Fragmentary pterosaur fossils have been found in Antartica, possibly from this poor sap with a broken wing. Here is my initial sketch.
