So when I do slime creatures, and just general overly shiny highlights (my favorite stuff to color by the way. I LOVE doing highlights.) I do a sorta line for the main highlight, and add a few circular/oval shapes to it to give the highlight more texture??? I guess?

The shapes and sense of depth are great on these shoes, but the lack of shadows and highlights make it look like it belongs in a completely different picture, almost like it's unfinished y'know

With the highlights and overlays honestly you can't come after me telling me how to do colors and what not because it doesn't meet your needs, I'm happy with how it came out and that's the important to me as an artist but I can't please everyone without me being happy

fun fact: I started omitting pupils and specular highlights in the eyes of my characters in order to evoke the ligne claire illustration style. I keep doing it because it makes it far less obvious if the characters get crosseyed or walleyed
