The travertine site at Bilzingsleben, Germany, has fossils from straight-tusked elephants, woolly rhinos, and macaques dating to an interglacial probably 400,000 years ago. The population left tools and remains of at least two individuals.

buried fossils last for millions of years, but fossils in museums tend not to persist past the building burning down or being swallowed by the ocean. this is why Derelictideusaurus, or "God's forsaken lizard", was pieced together in 2069 (nice) from fragmented digital archives.

Today I celebrate the privilege of collaborating with some of the most wonderful women in paleontology, like Meave Leakey and Nina Jablonski. Back in 2004 I worked with them on the study of amazing fossils of Rhinocolobus and other fossil monkeys from Koobi Fora. What a ride!

Tenontosaurus was popularly depicted as prey fodder for Deinonychus. Come on, they deserve better than that, for a lone Tenontosaurus could potentially injure a lone Deinonychus. Fossils have been common, having remains found from Montana to possibly even Maryland. Wild!
