And it’s been suggested actually that dinosaurs originally lay softshell eggs instead of hardshell, which makes sense for how extremely rare they are overall in the fossil record & how the ones we do find are hardshelled (sauropods, oviraptorids, early avians, hadrosaurs, etc.)

"Dr. Grant, my dear Dr. Sattler. Welcome... to Jurassic"
"Jurassic Park, you mean?"
"No, just the Jurassic. We've got sauropods, a Stegosaurus and not much else."

My boyfriend is going through a rough time right now. I can't really help from where I'm at but I decided to draw him some cute sauropods. Not an original idea by any stretch, still I like it.

Well all feet are made up of the same bones (for the most part). Sauropods’ front feet look more like pillars than an elephant’s.

Miragaia

A 6 meter long stegosaurid with the longest neck in the family, it had even more vertebrae than some sauropods, its known from 2 specimens

ALT: in its original reconstruction it was believed to have shoulder spikes, which later turned out to be part of the tail spikes

Despite their rarity, Mongolian sauropods are probably the best around https://t.co/GhOTuultYy

25. Ancient Thunder: Suuwassea and the Lesser Sauropods. On the Morrison fern prairie, a Suuwassea browses on low-lying vegetation, while in the background, a Kaatedocus notices the arrival of a thunderous herd of Brontosaurus.

Hey you know how when we didn't know a lot abt dinosaurs we thought sauropods were semiaquatic and used their long necks as snorkels bc we thought they were too heavy for land? Yea I'm making an alien out of that :)

More warm up grumpy sauropods for the timeline, fitting for a Monday

From : "In a recent study, Museum Research Associate Emanuel Tschopp and colleagues show that not only is Amphicoelias distinct [...], but there are likely many more types of sauropods in the Morrison Formation than previously estimated." https://t.co/wnkEyL8Zl9

Welcome to week! This derpy looking diplodocid was one of the smaller sauropods in the record. Native to during the Mid-#Cretaceous, this represents an odd branch in the long-neck lineage.

Filter feeding is a bizarre hypothesis proposed by the same guys who think that all Morrison sauropods are a single genus. It's not likely in the slightest.

Been thinking a lot about the characters I’ve made, and I set some time aside tonight to illustrate my favorite, Amber! (She loves sauropods 🥰)

Well it has been nice doing some more giant sauropods so here is other retouched recon, Argentinosaurus is at the top of the title of biggest land animal ever since its discovery with a mass estimation of 60 to 80 tons.

I finished a thing I was waiting too long to retouch in terms of details and is my recon of Barosaurus, one of the longest sauropods, is a sort of readjust of different things like scales, neck shape and a downscale to around 40 to 45 m, alongside Allosaurus fragilis and a human.

When reconstructing titanosaurs with no known skull material, you can pretty much go one of two ways: the macronarian style like Sarmientosaurus or the more diplodocid style like Rapetosaurus.

The Hydrogon, a giant late surviving Lurdusaur in the hollow earth and indeed the largest of its kind growing up to 20-23 meters long, an enormous semiaquatic herbivore 2nd only to the sauropods in its habitat and biome, inhabiting swamps, wetlands, mangroves and even kelpforests
