Today I managed to sketch + underpaint 5 pieces and maybe like 70% of the rendering on the first one!

I think I'm still going to fall short of my goal for the month but it's good progress 💪

If anyone is curious, here is a step-by-step how I painted the Emperor of Mankind from 40K. In this case, I paint a bit similar to how a 3D software-engine would render. I start with an underpainting/sketch, and then try to hit a "ambient diffuse" checkpoint before adding light.

another detail that i think definitely added to the painty feel was the edge lighting/coloring on the trees here. It made the colors look as if there was underpainting to the whole thing
