I finally figured out what my mermaids were missing: bubbles! Really enjoyed her top for this one, although it hides her tail those folds were too fun to ignore. She definitely has evil stepmother vibes to her, hope you like her!

Basically i have an idea where mermaids are akin to say, a man of war, lots of little organisms joined together, in this case, on a poor unsuspecting human. Lots of little tic like bugs create the "scales" and feed off of the human.
