Weird thing is, the artist who worked on that (Katsuya Terada) is actually pretty phenomenal. He did some Zelda art for Nintendo that was some heat. His FF4 stuff is just proof that sometimes artists fuck up

I was always a fan of the Katsuya Terada watercolour look in older Legend of Zelda illustrations. His use of colour felt so magical & other worldly.

First off, that second image isn't part of the concept art for the game it was art that Katsuya Terada made for a player's guide of link's awakening.

True story, I met Katsuya Terada at a Kinokuniya and i told him i loved his works from this series of Zelda pictures. Particularly how he made the thighs big for this picture (because it really gave the characters weight). Dunno if it was translated weird, but he smiled awkwardly
