Getting back on my art groove after a rough week. Experimenting with some alternate techniques for rendering light and shadow. Low-contrast for the sake of readable detail, but hopefully it gets the volumes across okay.

@PetiteMenagerie @Mirsathia I find occasionally putting your work in greyscale helps immensely in seeing the values. High contrast in values creates visual interest, which can be helpful in establishing focal point/mood. Take this work of mine for example, the lighter values in the eye create a focal point

Forgive my camera quality but its so clever the contrasting animation styles! The "townies" are mostly angular, stiffly animated and very clean. Even Robyn when she's switches to a townie mindset is animated completely different than when she's with Mehb.
Following my last tweet, I didnt notice my eyes were having a problem picking up both light & contrast. Seeing bright things (like led screens) burns & the edges of my vision gradually grow bigger & darker. To the me back then, these two looked the same.

in contrast, these costumes go against the rules of color schemes and have little color similarity. this can lead to people finding the outfit jarring + asynchronous.
in haruka/uzuki's outfits, the bright blues seem to heavily clash the reds, making the outfit seem disjointed.
