Hisuian Growlithe pair based on Shishi, or Fu/foo dogs. I know that they’re really based on Komainu statues but this is a personal project ^^

Alma-Tadema il faisait souvent des statues toutes blanches ok mais il arrive quand même à créer ces très belles ambiances antiques avec des peintures murales colorées

ヒスイのガーディ!ちょっと沖縄の狛犬っぽいね。Hisuian Growlithe! You kinda remind of the Okinawa statues buddy.#PokemonLegendsArceus

Hisuian Growlithe is such a good design. It takes clear direction from growlithe's original inspiration in both design and typing (Komainu/Shisa; lion-dog statues) It also just fits in really well with the sinnoh Pokedex aesthetic? All around good boy. First regional I'm sold on.

- Hisuian Arcanine 2.0-

Alternate scheme or now that I think about it > Shinny ✨

I simply flipped its colors around for a more Komainu vibe. Traditionally, the statues tend to have red lines for eye lids and lips so yeah…

after that Pokemon Presents, Hisuian Arcanine inspired by komainu statues has taken over my MIND

Caninos a également droit a une forme régionale de Hisui de type Feu/Roche dont le design s'inspire des Komainu (pas sûr du nom) statues gardiennes que l'on retrouve dans les sanctuaires Shintoïstes

My thought no one asked for:
Komainu and Shishi are legendary dogs (Arcanine) often depicted as statues (rock type) with circular fur (growlithe's chest) and Komainu even has a HORN sometimes!!
I can already picture Arcanine always sitting in that same pose every game ever

Pretty sure Belos is Phillip Wittebane and has been trapped in The Boiling Isles since the 1600s. Hunter is his nephew; the brother of Phillip in the statues has the same nose as Hunter. I think Belos is turning into a Titan and that’s what became of his brother.

15th!

today's was inspired by all of those fun Henshin Ditto statues of Ditto interacting with Pokémon—I love how they mimic each other! Getting a little more comfy with shading as well....

...What kinds of experiments/poses should I try next? 16 more to go!

// TOH Spoilers

Before this episode we only knew of one human that had been in the boiling iles before, that being Philip Wittebane, but both the story and the statues picture two humans. One of them is obviously Philip while the other is probably Belos. Let me explain.

I saw the statues and immediately thought, welp... Hunter and Belos are both clones. Two witches torn apart, now alone. Two hearts of stone.

// toh , toh spoilers ,

With the town's logo looking very similar to the emperor's coven seal, and the statues of the founders or important people who we think are Philip and his brother, it is very clear that Philip or his brother is belos or a decedent
