Huguenot refugees popularized them in England, and by the latter part of the 17th century many new varieties had been raised to which some charming and fanciful names were given such as the Fair Virgin, the Alderman, the Matron, Prince Silverwings.

George Sfougaras' work is concerned with the way people’s lives are affected by history and how national symbols, myths and rhetoric shape identity. He has worked community and exhibition projects about migration and refugees. This work is ‘Phenotype’ (acrylic and pen on paper)

A more modern retelling of the nativity. A great reminder of perhaps the most famous refugee of all. A great find in . The story is told from the perspective of the donkey and with a focus on empathy, helping others and kindness. Something we could all do with more of.

Gospel: Today on the Feast of the Holy Innocents, we read how the Holy Family fled from Herod's persecution, left their homeland and took refugee in Egypt (Mt 2). Today remember families who are migrants and refugees, and internally displaced people, like Jesus, Mary and Joseph.

Some of the most impactful parts of the story, I think, are the refugees' interviews. To hear not only their experiences, but their own hopes for their lives and futures. I remember being struck by Shamsun's story about the time she arrived at the Aceh shores, how vivid it felt.
