As for the joints, you can take some creative liberties with him, i just did a real quick over lap on the first and then a plain bend on the second. If you want to get fancy you could go the Rachnera route and have some complex kneecaps(?).

Took a frame of my character's idle cycle and decided to do a test on how she could look if I converted her to joints / bones. Honestly, there's absolutely no comparison, the detail because I don't have to fully redraw every single frame. Need to do some animation tests next.

Here's what my dream VRC avatar would be. It wouldn't be too tall but it has the comf of the hoodie. Maybe the hoodie could be larger so it covers more of the legs. I'd like to keep it similar to my nanachi one in concept hence the ball joints stay.

Working up PKL-S' design a little & more rendering practice.
Added a bit more detail in the joints mostly. Also added segments on the pot/skirt thing, so that when she runs the panels flip up & don't hinder her movement. I really like the flowerpot motif, but it must make sense.
