another thing that makes elden ring stand out is how very other-worldly its setting is. Once you leave limgrave the settings get more bizarre and fantastical as the game goes on, whereas GOW and Horizon are kind of stuck on earth either in the distant past or distant future

the vistas of the erdtree and the siofra river well clear anything I've seen out of both horizon and gow, but also the creature designs in this game feel ripped straight out of a great fantasy novel and/or a jim henson creature shop fantasy film
