This character design is a predecessor design to Coffee's which was heavily inspired by how Ralph Bakshi portrayed goblin with tusk-like fangs and big frog-like faces in The Hobbit.

While i'm not as big in LotR as a whole I LOVE The original rendition of The Hobbit he produced.

My 6yo + I are at ch.8 of The Just read Bilbo + the Dwarves surviving the Mirkwood spiders! There was squealing during the more menacing 🕷attacks, but he also found Bilbo’s spider-mocking songs funny!
