18 May 1775 St John Quebec. Col Benedict Arnold, aboard sloop-of-war Liberty, raids the shipyards & captures a schooner & a supply sloop named The George. which was later armed with 12 guns and renamed USS Enterprise, 1st American warship with the name.

16 May 1777 Internecine strife in Georgia leads to a duel & British-born signer of the Declaration, Button Gwinnett, is wounded by Whig Lachlan McIntosh. Days later, Gwinnett died from the gangrenous wound. McIntosh was also shot in the duel but lived.
