St. Ignatius of Antioch (A.D. 107), preparing for martyrdom: "I look forward with joy to the wild animals held in readiness for me; I will coax them to devour me… I am God's wheat, and I am ground by the wild beasts that I may be found the pure bread of Christ."
The #promptpals theme this week is On the Street Where You Live, so I decided I would draw a memorial statue located in Downtown Antioch. It Is a 7ft bronze sculpture of a Native American Tree Marker that was placed on a Native American trail that passes through Antioch.

"The seven brothers, called Machabees, are holy Jewish martyrs who suffered death in the persecution of Antiochus Epiphanes, the impious king of Syria."

Rather pleasing to read that Ingres was so influenced by the fresco of Odysseus & Penelope found in the Macellum in #Pompeii, that he made use of her pose in his represention of Stratonice in the painting ‘The Sickness of Antiochus’.

This one is Antiochus, a Half-Satyr. As he grew up with his human side family he wasn't much in touch with Satyr culture. But his dad went to solve it sending him a clothing suitable to a viril satyr of his age.
That is a personal piece for a change! I Loved working on it!
