90% of a painting is shape design(composition) and values. Color is more for emotional response it’s about evoking a feeling. If you nail the shapes and control your lights and darks well you can use whatever color you want!

Want to know how to get good at drawing? Start small. And I don't mean draw big objects with no details. I mean draw leaves, rocks, blades of grass.

Start small, and pull texture images from the internet to help give your image that POP.
