My current ranking of gimmicks since X and Y. I know isn't out yet, but the Terastal Phenomenon reminds me a lot of Mega Evolution, which already makes it better than Z-Moves and Dynamax/Gigantamax.

As much as I look forward to S/V, the only thing I don't like so far is the Terastal Phenomenon. Unlike previous gimmicks like Mega Evolutions or Z-Moves, it just feels like an excuse to sell toys rather than add to the overall metagame.

Isekai should focus on adventure more than gimmicks. Tell a full story with a fun MC to be around. These two stories fit the bill. They have a hero and they have villains so the plot remains focused. Plus mine is more sci-fi than the other so you get variety as well.
