With red, yellow, and blue as primary colors you are skipping an entire range of colors in their full intensity. Computers calculate colors literally, they travel from point A to point B in a straight line. In real life, subtractive mixes generally travel in curves around it.

I was also trying out different kinds of modes to make the base shadows. I used a sorta lavender for the main color (2nd) and then selected Subtraction (3rd pic). Multiply (1st pic) didn't have it cuz it wasn't striking enough.

This is pretty much how I do sketches now, I start with a really rough and messy frame and then basically "sculpt" lines with subtractive/additive sketching. Someday I'll upload a process video... maybe 😛
