Congrats @EvaCHerbst et al on your publication that is getting a lot of Twitter buzz!
"The origin of #terrestrial #locomotion is one of the key transitions in #vertebrate history, but we still do not know how most early #tetrapods moved on land..."

@archaeologyart Carus was a many-sided man, being not only an artist but also a doctor, a naturalist, a scientist, and a psychologist. He is well-known among scientists for originally conceiving of the idea of the vertebrate archetype, a seminal idea in Darwin’s theory of evolution.
Hiya hi! My name is Stitches the undead racoon🦝
I'm an upcoming #vtuber who loves to play nature-based games & farming & life sims!
I plan on streaming conservation science and biology related streams along with some live invertebrate stuff!

#GoblinCityChallenge Day 11: How do you pick character names?
Mostly, I just name them the first setting-appropriate thing that pops in my head! Sometimes if I'm struggling, I pick a theme and name the characters around that. For my current project, the theme is invertebrates!
Newest #watercolor of #Lystrosaurus murrayi. These squat little #synapsids were the most abundant land vertebrates in their #Triassic communities. #JurassicWorldDominion #scicomm
Insects are invertebrates. Invertebrates are fish. Therefore, insects are fish.

Here's a thread of the rough sketches & ideation that went into this #tyrannosaur / #crocodile #thermography #paleoart that @CrocHolliday just announced is in the new edition of Vertebrate Life.

Vertebrates are comparatively rare in Mazon creek with makes this temnospondyl such a treat. Soft tissue has been preserved including its delicate toe pads.

In particular, the scene showing the evolution of vertebrates is especially well done. The screen transitions smoothly and succinctly illustrate the major evolutionary steps from jawless fish to the ancestors of tetrapods. It’s a great example of animation’s endless potential.
Verneuil's masterful touch with pen and ink inspires my own work with dinosaurs - he made the "ugly" and "creepy" world of invertebrates into beautiful objects of art. #InverteFest
