Definitely not as well, I guess it makes use of shaded tones to define the 3D form normally but without that it just relies on lineart which creates some odd spots.

I'd say my improvement was realizing how much I HATE rough, sharp lineart and cell shading, so instead, I started just using a cleaned up sketch, and soft shading. Best choice I ever made when it came to my art.
