Re-reading (again) Smuggling Under Sail In The Red Sea by Henri de Monfreid, who followed Rimbaud to Djibouti and from 1912 to 1940, ran guns, hashish and morphine aboard a dhow up the Red Sea to Suez, around the Arabian Peninsula and the Horn of Africa, and south to Tanzania.
