Most people react negatively to Obari's character designs from this period. I'm more into realism - but he went so over the edge on the extreme proportions of the characters that I love them, as monstrous as they are. I can't even imagine the difficulty in making them move.

Who can remember this old animated show - saw it in the 90s, not sure what origin year - about a space crew, maybe on a planet, it may have been very weird and/or boring but it was super stylised with mad proportions, like the captain(?) looked like a red square person?

Making an image black & white can help you see if you are using a good variety of values. In this piece, many of the colors share a similar value. Consider throwing in some darker and lighter portions. The vibrant color pallette and mood of the piece is amazing though!
