and the brush i use is a blending brush but its on a super low blend setting, i think the glossy look might from over blending the colors (if i got the right idea hah) also the brush is a triangle shape and i draw with size/opacity with pressure!

honestly though it seems i didnt start moving away from it until 2020 when i eventually switched to csp (march and june respectively, still using sai). but i was always lazy about it so my “rendering” at this point was just blending the lineart with the coloring on one layer
