One of the reasons I care so much about this is that my grandfather was a working artist from the early 1940s through the late 1960s.

He did work for publishers, ad agencies, and the US Navy during WWII.

Kirkus Reviews says GENIE MEANIE Orca Book Publishers is "An important story about bullying."
Plus, who doesn't want to read about a genie on hiatus?

I've been a freelance artist instead of a bartender for 2 years now and I want to give a big shoutout to the wonderful publishers who have kept my head above water.
I love you all!!

My go to example are these two books which came out from large publishers last year and both mine the idea of Star Wars characters (Poe/Finn) to the point the characters look like them. https://t.co/2Rkq3hk3wA

There were not one but two books by major publishers last year that were basically Poe/Finn Star Wars fanfic and advertised as such. Even the characters on the cover look like Poe/Finn. A take on Rebecca with the names slightly changed, like The Winters. Etc.

Yes, a few published in recent years which deal with the disability / impairment sensitively and with respect. Think publishers definitely need to continue to explore this area. Especially when thinking about building empathy and understanding.

Seems like DRAKKA, the first comic I've drawn and colored a few years ago (written by Frèderic Bremaud), is been picked up and rediscovered by a bunch of publishers and it's being reprinted all over Europe. Who knows, maybe it will make the jump across the ocean one day!

The 'Alien' franchise...extended. Dark Horse comics and a few other publishers had some extended narratives that were absolutely brilliant and perfect for an animated series.

In times when the far right lashes out with ferocity against writers, journalists and publishers who promote critical thought, Red Books Day is a proposal that invites us to reflection and debate.

What was the last red book that you read?

In a new opinion piece, "When Animals are Used as Stand-ins for Transgender Humans, People are Diminished," Parrish Turner takes trans issues to heart, in a plea for publishers to stop with the metaphors and give children authentic conversations:
