I have been stuck with this question since I started watching him. I even sent a supa to him asking him about this but didn't get any useful answer. at this point I'm just going with the lighting. personally i tend to use more blue undertone and a bit of green on light part

also the lighting/compositing is fantastic... they do the "cartoon movie" shadows on everything but they also do like incredibly subtle and nice things with ambient lighting and rimlights and stuff? honestly kind of shocking to see outside of a Makoto Shinkai film or something
