so one big thing that'll make your work less flat is through shading, this artist specifically seems to use a mixture of hard and soft highlights/shadows

circled are hard highlights, where light is bouncing off the skin/clothes etc.

A little behind the scenes process for the undead drivers. I experiment a lot with detail and color before this breakdown happens but the final stage goes: lines, colors, shadows, highlights, final clean up. Wouldn't be opposed to an AI doing that last part haha.

then i take slightly lighter color than the base for highlights, sometimes i add some gradient overlays and the cutesy blocky highlight is optional but i use an add layer on mid opacity for those
