Redid an old sketch! First is new, second is old. Learning about skin tone and some new, more subtle shading techniques! The proportions are definitely off, but the exercise was mainly focused on color.

The painting skill is great. And since you want advice for design, I made some modifications here: 1) removed all 1:1 proportion elements; 2) added rhythm of size to different body parts; 3) removed obvious patterns; 4) put highest contrast above chest.

8. clean up! i use the white background to see the edges easier. flipping an image will also mostly tell you if the proportions are wrong.
