Last night's still life 'Apple with Conkers'. Have had a huge crop of apples from our tree this year and have been giving them away, apart from this one. Conkers are known as 'buckeyes' in Ohio, my wife's home state, which is also the official state tree.

The Nacom was a military head of a Maya city-state, in this case, Potonchan. I was unable to find the name of the Nacom for the Tabasco in 1519, so this series had to refer to him only by his title. He led the allied Maya forces against the Spaniards in the Battle of Cintla.
