I'm beginning to have fun with this now. I have been looking at the pieces by Boucher and noted that he used a lot of blue, so I thought I would go with a blue undertone to start with my colours. It's quite interesting how much it influences the colours of the face!

Colours are of course easier to add, as well as wide brushes of various kinds that pencils simply cannot replicate.
But simple lines and shadows, that can be done with a pencil intuitively within seconds look much flatter or shaky by default.
Ill get used to this eventually.

I am experimenting with using @OskSta 's Townscaper (go get it - brilliant!) to visualise little settlements for my map thingy. It's proving to be quite useful so far. Need to refine the colours/detail a bit but I am excited to see where it goes.
FINALLY finished the basic Harpy ref that's had half-done lines for like months now. I'm glad I sat down and finished it tonight, I'm particularly pleased with the colours. No one specific bird used as reference, was largely thinking about falcons and pigeons funnily enough.
