@galaxase I've only started trying this out recently, but what I do is scan the sketch, darken the contrast on it, add a new layer and set it to "multiply", and do the coloring on there.

Okay so I really love how this one came out?? I think photographs with really well defined shapes help me grasp the study much better! (not to mention clear contrast)

My scanner has way too pale colours and my phone just loves saturation and contrast way too much. :((

This enigmatic painting, "Two Girls" by Russian artist Boris Grigoriev would be nearly monochromatic if not for the viridian ribbon on the figure at left. A small amount of contrast can create the impression of much more color than was actually employed on the palette!
