Tomorrow is Friday the 13th. In the folklore of many regions of Spain, it is considered a very lucky day – I learnt this from the wife of my father's first cousin, my aunt Urbana, who was from Galicia, on the northwest of the country's mainland. 1/

Reminder that the American Santa used to be thought of as about two feet tall, which is how come he can fit down the chimney. 'A *miniature* sleigh and eight *tiny* reindeer' runs the poem. Look how big he is in this early illustration, compared to the chair.

-Apply for some arts funding to give myself more time to make personal pieces.

Called the Rose of Winter, the Camellia is linked to with the short lives of samurai; the flowers last only briefly & then fall to the ground, much like a severed head falls from a body. In Hanakotoba, the Japanese flower language, it represents a noble death.
