I was not happy with the shading and the colors, too muddy... I wanted it to look a bit theatrical but it got too dark and gray, the skin wasn't appealing.

I like to paint now that i know how instead of airbrushing everything. I hope you like it better too!

then i took 2 months to finish it. which sounds about right. this was the final product, which I also changed later bc I kinda went too ham on the glow airbrushing around the edges

7 months of working on getting this 2d creature into a 3d form is finally complete. This will be my first designer toy and will likely only do a limited run of 10 to learn the painting / airbrushing.

Kiriko WIP - Overwatch 2

More progress on this one, doing more experiments with gradients and airbrushing on top of my usual cel-shading. Hope it looks good 😓

Day 7 of

Hairbrushing and Modern Day AU

(Just happened to have already existing drawings for these two prompts lol)

I have no idea what this process of my art is called but I love doing it lmao
It's just clipping a screen layer on top and softly airbrushing some dark reds on the skin https://t.co/KxaJIFReci

basically doing this 🫡 procreates selection tool is really smooth, it just makes it easier since i usually shade by airbrushing and then erasing edges to give it a harsher line, w this i don’t have to do that

its dhard to figure out what vibe u wanna go for, be it rougher, gradient based or just. wild
you can treat it pretty similarly to physical paint or airbrushing or even charcoals. depends what brushes you use and how you do it.
digital art is a fuck around and find out medium

I fucking like despise shading with only airbrush or blur, to me it looks so, like gross where it’s all blended, I just think having strokes of a brush in the shading is beautiful and gives it more life I like a mixture of the both a lot but just straight airbrushing …. Ex:

Fenrir in his casual and assassin attire. I tried airbrushing the edges of the shadows. I kinda like the look. Retweets appreciated.

I think I got better at airbrushing (well more like blending lol)

im really proud of how far my uekawa art has come this year. I still need to speed up my workflow, the process would be made infinitely easier if I wasn't still doing all my line weights and airbrushing by hand -- but when alls said and done I cant wait to see where it ends up

Airbrushing female skin with the Mecha Colors. Yes Vallejo Mecha Colors. 😉

A - Mecha Dark Red

B - Mecha Pink

C - Mecha Light Flesh

Then a couple of paints to refine with the brush. 🎨🎨🎨

Here you can see a consistent line where the shading has a blur filter applied, and because a simple line is easier to animate and keep track of than manual airbrushing, if you keep the Gaussian blur value consistent then each frame's gradient will be consistent too

What a plonker!

I also get people saying “that’s a photo” or “3D render” (I wouldn’t know how!) which is why I include my WIP stages to show how I work. Mainly a LOT of airbrushing and blending! Linework stage alone takes up to 2 hours!

I think where I can take these AI-generated pieces to the next level is airbrushing out some of the freaky artifacts (like the creepy pupils) and editing them to look normal. AI and photoshop here I come!
