Kingfisher

A kingfisher regularly fishes in our pond and I'm always astonished at how a bird wearing electric blue and bright orange can be so hard to see against the bank😁

This one from a lovely 📷 by with thanks.

Fungi

Not sure which one, I'm afraid, but I was struck by the extraordinary shape. Do tell me if you know which species it is.

Lois x 4. I've only met Lois via but she looks like a gorgeous rabbit. Challenge to draw something that is like a black nothingness - but full of rabbit

Winter aconite

Like little light bulbs, coming up in winter to brighten the day when everything else is still dormant and dark.

Lapwing

Been drawing all afternoon but alas I can't share it, so here's an '20 min lapwing' instead. The relief of sloshing watercolour around after hours of black & white... priceless!

Hellebore

After years of 'not being bothered' by hellebores, I find myself increasingly taken with the dark ones, at least.
This was going to be in pen & ink but the colours of the original seduced me.☺️

Looking rather grumpy, but probably 'that's just how I look' ...

Coots

A few inky studies of coots - a bird I really love for their querky movements, beautiful plumage and feisty characters. Oh and those feet... 😁

St Swithins, Ashmanhaugh

Hastily done, sitting on what turned out to be rather damp grass, under a tree. But the blackbirds fluted in the bushes around me and the sun shone and the pleasure was in the painting.☺️

Well I finally managed to finish this one. It’s taken a while because I kept getting distracted onto other things. Hope you like it, it’s a bit grisly 🤭😟😀

Ladies' slipper orchids

Such beautiful flowers - but as footwear I've long contended that they don't look very comfortable!

📷 with thanks.
