March 22, 1785, birthday of British geologist Adam Sedgwick, who named the #Cambrian. He taught a young Charles #Darwin the noble art of #geology in the field and introduced dip & strike to describe layers https://t.co/OLzSCqdU9m
@DeltaGod77 I present you a challenge - Opabinia: a small prehistoric shrimp like creature from the Cambrian.
@IrvingForbush2 @BrianBrachiopod @FloJoHorman @MoffittJill @Drstevenhobbs @ScientistMel @FossilLocator @gunsnrosesgirl3 @TTDerandere @Bolshoibabushka @NotLordByron @RachelOsiris @Rainbow_Ark @spikesbuddy @JMPeck69 @keithmehl Fuxianhuia protensa ... very early Cambrian. Maybe 525 million years ago or earlier.
This art comes from a quite different part of the human brain than the brachiopod's cartoons ... but both are valid interpretations of the rare fossil evidence.

This will be my last creation for this month since I will be on vacation! Meet the #anomalocaris (anomalocaris saron), an extinct radiodont dated back to the cambrian. It's name means "abnormal shrimp". #cambrian #minecraft #blockbench #3dart #3dmodel #creature #shrimp

The Oldest sea scorpion is Pentecopterus from the Ordovician Winneshiek Shale in Iowa. Despite this acclaimed status, they were relatively derived meaning it's possible we can find earlier eurypterids in the Cambrian.
