Pakicetus, a whale ancestor that was small, lived on the land near the shore, almost wolflike, with webbed feet and long snouts for digging around for food near water. They eventually went further out to sea and grew massively larger.

Addendum: Cetotherium is in this chart to give an idea for the possible proportions of Joumocetus, it is however equally close to Pisobalaena which has more typical whale propotions, the result is a 2 or 3 m long whale

Looks like I don't very often, but I did manage to find these four examples. In order of appearance we have a pod of Peregocetus, Muzquizopteryx and Clidastes (with Pepemkay and Pachyrhizodus), some modern day Manatees, and a pair of Pannoniasaurus
