I’d never heard of the fairytale of Donkeyskin, until I recently watched a 1970 movie based off it. It left an impression
While many Sword cards represent physical conflict, the Eight of Swords is all about being caught up in your own insecurities. Donkeyskin disguises herself to escape a bad situation, but then has to choose whether to keep the safety of the disguise or live her life happily.
🌺 this movie fuelled many a fever dream but anything for Catherine Deneuve ;-;

@Himmapaan Have you read @robinmckinley most excellent take on Donkeyskin? Deerskin is one of my favourite books and it has the best cover!
These are my pieces for my Myths and Fables assignment. I wanted to play with pattern and I think I did a really good job for my first time messing with something like this. I'm particularly proud of the third piece (Donkeyskin) because I feel like it just has a lot of movement.
Behold Princess Vera! Also known as Donkeyskin, she shall one day be queen. You can tell the in-universe author had some bias when it came to her page, no matter what he says. Bio page 2 of 4!

#Fairytale mermaid day two: the first dress from the very strange story of #Donkeyskin. In this story, a princess requests 3 dresses. The first must be the color of the sky with clouds and stars wrapped around it. 🎨☁️✨
