Forgot to mention this little fellow here in my last post! Forest dormice are so rare, they are barely ever mentioned in any animal guides in Europe.

That's a double-TIL for me, as European Edible Dormice (Glis glis) don't live nowhere near Moscow, so I never even heard of them before!! 150g in weight, ~300g before hybernation (probably the tastiest moment, huh?), nocturnal, solitary, still eaten in Chroatia and Slovenia.

The hedgerows are full of sweet scented honeysuckle flowers now. it’s a very useful plant for nectaring insects, also dormice build their nests with shredded honeysuckle
