Forgot to mention this little fellow here in my last post! Forest dormice are so rare, they are barely ever mentioned in any animal guides in Europe.

That's a double-TIL for me, as European Edible Dormice (Glis glis) don't live nowhere near Moscow, so I never even heard of them before!! 150g in weight, ~300g before hybernation (probably the tastiest moment, huh?), nocturnal, solitary, still eaten in Chroatia and Slovenia.

Autumn berries! I've always thought the flying embers from campfires looked so magical, so it was fun animating that. Also dormice are just the CUTEST little creatures, I really enjoyed looking for pictures of them for reference! 💕

The floor of the woodland is littered with discarded hazelnuts while up above the squirrels rush this way & that feeding themselves up for cold weather. The ancient coppiced Hazel woods provide five-star habitat for squirrels and hopefully dormice.
