- therizinosaurids had 4 toes, making them the only known theropods to not have 3 toed feet! Based on CT scans done on its skull, Erlikosaurus, and likely other therizinosaurians, would've had large olfactory bulbs and strong senses of smell as a result! (3/3)

He also found that Erlikosaurus could open its mouth to a 43 degree angle at maximum compared to carnivorous theropods which had wider jaw gapes than herbivores, similar to modern carnivorous animals.
The skull of Erlikosaurus has been the most studied out of the material, as it is very complete and well articulated.
