I can’t have a series on naughtiness in #C18th gardens without mentioning Fragonard’s “The Swing” c1767. This one is so good I’ll make it a 🧵. (1/4)

Fragonard’s “Les Hasards heureux de l’escarpolette” presents the femme fatale of the 18th century, balanced coquettishly upon a swing amidst a love triangle.
Restoration work now reveals that her husband, who pushes the swing, is totally unaware of his male rival! #rococo
I love the new hang and can’t get over just how blue and even more pink this painting now is! Fragonard’s The Swing (or Les hasards heureux de l’escarpolette) has recently been cleaned @WallaceMuseum
Fragonard’s The Swing has been restored—and it's saucier than ever. https://t.co/lRU9Ljru4d
Enjoy your favourite French masterpieces once again, presented as part of the completion of one of the Wallace Collection’s most extensive relighting and redisplay projects undertaken in recent years.

A #fjorester take on Fragonard’s “The Swing” :) I stumbled upon the original and thought “dang that would be cute as Fjord and Jester”. #criticalrolefanart #criticalrole #jesterlavorre #fjord
@MusicSunlit It’s a play on Jean-Honoré Fragonard’s The Swing!!
@HumXin Your painting style def gives off some classic fine art vibes, specifically Rococo paintings (like Jean-Honoré Fragonard’s), especially your awesome mermaid painting!
“Vanity and Fear” @GreatCometBway inspired illustration parodied after Fragonard’s The Swing ☄️✨
the painting on the wall is fragonard’s the swing, i’m not sure if it was chosen for a reason but the painting is very decadent which could tie in with the temptation of wealth/materialism that seems to be what gfriend have been corrupted by @GFRDofficial #GFRIEND_AppleTeaser1
When it entered the Gallery’s collection in 1960, “Diana and Endymion” was attributed to François Boucher, Fragonard’s first teacher. Boucher’s name had been associated with the painting since at least the late 19th century.
#Happybirthday to #JeanHonoréFragonard, born #onthisday 1732.
Fragonard’s #TheSwing, painted c. 1767 – 1768, is emphatically the artist’s most famous #painting, and one of the most recognisable paintings in the Wallace Collection.

@Tate @SHONIBARESTUDIO While the sculpture is meant to be viewed straight on, as in #Fragonard’s original painting, the viewer can walk around the figure and thus become the men in the 18th c. version. 3/3 #HECAA #c18 #arthistory #TheSwing #rococo #textiles #sculpture #installation
The enchanting Souvenir (c. 1775-80) is one of two paintings to be restored in 2019 by Nicole Ryder for #FixingFrago.
The yellowed varnish will be removed to reveal Fragonard’s original colours and the split in the panel assessed to safeguard this masterpiece.
