Taira no Kagekiyo

The Taira clan was one of the honorary surnames given to children of the emperors who, for whatever reason, were not eligible for the throne.

Kagekiyo was also known as Kazusa no Shichirou and most of what we know of him comes from The Tale of Heike.

I feel like folks really slept on Heike Story, some of the most beautiful TV animation I've ever seen. I'm pretty certain the backgrounds were directly inspired by the early 20th century Shin-hanga woodblock print movement with its focus on the qualities of light and reflection.
