The Birds, one of Alfred Hitchcock’s masterpieces, and probably my favorite, premiered March 28, 1963, in New York City, some 60 years ago today. Loosely based on Daphne du Maurier’s short story, it made an international star of its leading lady, the legendary Tippi Hedren.

Four chilling tales of terror. https://t.co/2ExaUIzKMZ A cat on a killing spree, a little girl you shouldn’t cross, a woman who is insane or possessed by the devil, and a nod to Hitchcock’s The Birds.

There are elements of Stephen King’s MISERY as well as Alfred Hitchcock’s PSYCHO but really this goes somewhere entirely different towards its conclusion. This was my first Yasuzô Masumura film but it definitely won’t be my last! His entire filmography looks just as subversive 🥰

Oh my goodness I love this shot it reminds me of the dream sequence Salvador Dali designed for Hitchcock’s Spellbound (1954) https://t.co/mNEcPrAsKw

even decades later, in awe of hitchcock’s storytelling… the transitions, the framing, all of his choices just leave me speechless (spellbound, 1945)

Not a curve as such, but Edward Hitchcock’s 1840 paleontological chart from Elementary Geology conveys something similar: “The comparative abundance or paucity of the different families, is shown by the greater or less space occupied by them upon the chart.”

Here’s poster 2 from my Alfred Hitchcock Re-Envisioned series! This time for Hitchcock’s “REAR WINDOW”. Looks like James Stewart is making good use of his quarantine time... 😬#Hitchcock

Trying to keep occupied...so here’s another poster. Alfred Hitchcock’s masterpiece...VERTIGO (1958) “only one is a wanderer. Two together are always going somewhere.” If ya haven’t watched this film get on it dummy.

Hard to believe its been 60 years today since Alfred Hitchcock’s PSYCHO was released. Also hard to believe it was Hitchcock’s 47th feature film! One of his best movies, 47 films in. Most directors don’t even make 47 features!

Will be watching/not showering today

We watched - among other things - Hitchcock’s Spellbound (with a great dream sequence from the mind of Salvador Dali), and The Incredible Shrinking Man (with a screenplay adapted from his own book by Richard Matheson).

Vivien Leigh’s screentest for the role of the second Mrs DeWinter in Alfred Hitchcock’s REBECCA (1940). She made two tests, this one w Alan Marshal, the other w Laurence Olivier. The role eventually went to Joan Fontaine, who was better at acting shy and demure.
