Mary Anning

Anning’s discoveries were key pieces of evidence to support the theory of extinction. While the theory existed prior, Anning’s finds provided solid evidence for the “age of reptiles”. She discovered the ichthyosaurus, the plesiosaurus, a pterosaur & more.

Like the band playing on the deck of the Titanic I will post Dinovembers on here as long as I can. Here we have Guizhouichthyosaurus from the Triassic, of which one individual died with the remains of a large thalattosaur in its stomach. It bit off more than it can chew...

Love how you have all the iconic British Jurassic reptiles like Plesiosaurus, Ichthyosaurus, Dimorphodon and Scelidosaurus and then there's just Stegosaurus wandering out of the sea like it just swam across the proto-atlantic

Whenever Mattel makes an aquatic reptile everyone gets excited, and for good reason! Still hoping we get an ichthyosaurus and an elasmosaurus. But a liopleurodon is a really welcomed addition.

What is the correct name for the platypterygiine ichthyosaur "Ichthyosaurus" campylodon? It's not Pervushovisaurus campylodon like has been claimed in recent literature, but instead Myopterygius campylodon. Read about it in my new blog post.

An adult Kyhytysuka cannibilizing a young specimen. Probably would end up like the Guizhouichthyosaurus that tried to swallow a Xinpusaurus several million years prior.

A salute to ichthyosaurs this splendid beasts that I've had an excuse to restore several times recently. Marine reptiles are really fun to draw and these have been a blast to work on. Here's Temnodontosaurus, Ichthyosaurus, Shonisaurus and Leptonectes.
