In 1612 AD Mughal emperor Jahangir granted permission to Portuguese to build a church at Ahmedabad in his Gujarat Province & ordered his Gujarat officials not to obstruct its construction.Mughal period painting of Jahangir with a portrait of Mother Mary.
Incredible piece by the wonderful @javechan_ , Jahangir had a fascinating history as Mughal Emperor, husband to one of the most powerful women in Mughal history, Noor Jahan. We plan on covering his struggles against the Deccan Sultans in a later campaign after we cover Sher Shah
It's debatable whether Jahangir's true love was Alcohol & Opium or his 20th wife Nurjahan, but he loved both of them and that is evident with the portrayals of Jahangir with Nurjahan as well as holding his goblet.

Even though we had to make a Google Doodle by using color pencils and paint (sigh), the assignment itself was fun so I made a digital version!
#googledoodle for Asma Jahangir. Reading up about her and seeing all she did for women and her activism is so inspiring!
