@DanPalaeon1 The Strawberry Bank Lagerstätte not only preserves relatively complete, articulated fossils but preserves them with 3D preservation, offering valuable insight into the anatomy of the animals in the ecosystem.

A fossil that buzzed excitement in 2022 is Innovatiocaris from the Chengjiang Lagerstätte in China. Normally, the frontal appendages are preserved but here we have the whole body giving us wonderful detail.

The Lagerstätten of Lebanon have provided some truly beautiful fossils. This is of one of the more charismatic species: Mimodactylus libanensis. It had Strikingly long wings and teeth only in the front of the snout. Images from Kellner et al., art by @JCsotonyi #FossilFriday
Check it out! This is Innovatiocaris, a newly described genus of a radiodont from the Cambrian Chengjiang Lagerstätte in China. Radiodonts, like Anomalocaris, are incredibly rare making this fossil incredible.

Because Lagerstätten are incredibly good at preservation, we can get the earliest representatives of organisms like Syllipsimopodi, an early ancestor of octopus. These finds help fill in the missing pieces to the Tree of Life.

Busy day in the @ROMtoronto collections as the Eramosa Lagerstätte covered the tables. We had a bit of help from this stowaway Bold Jumper, who is probably much happier outdoors than in the near-shore Silurian #FossilFriday
One of the reasons why Lagerstätten are so important to paleontology is the preservation of not just individuals but whole ecosystems. We can see this neatly in the Burgess Shale. Above we see the animals preserved due to exceptional conditions vs. normal fossilization below.
My entry to the #AtlantisBestiary , aquatic fauna of the Pavlopetri formation a lagerstätte which gives us an insight into the diversity of live in the coastal ecosystems of Late Paleocene Atlantis and which species called these ancient coasts home:

#LagerstatteoftheWeek The English, Silurian Herefordshire Lagerstätte preserves 3-Dimensional fossils with soft tissues. Normal fossil preparation methods would destroy these fragile beings leading to computers to recreate them digitally.

https://t.co/MrsYSYBAnk Hot off the press we got our third newly described Lagerstätte for 2021!! This is a big one, because this would be the earliest known Lagerstätte in South America (Edicaran~563 MA) beating the Permian Mangrullo FM by almost 300 my. #fossils
#LagerstatteoftheWeek The Guanshan Biota has a host of primitive arthropods including the scavenger Guangweicaris spinatus. The lack of hard parts means we mainly find them in konservat-lagerstätten.

Cassie, ZC’s Design Collection Assistant, says this is one of her #2019Highlights – “Loved seeing up close this beautiful and teeny tiny Anj Smith work, Landscape with Lagerstätte, 2017, that was part of our summer show World Receivers!”
@IV757975026 The Megamouth Hurdiid is pretty great. I’ve been following it’s progress. Apparently there is another, even larger Hurdiid oral cone from a lagerstätten in Australia.
