Congrats to @lionel_cavin and his colleague for the new paper on Mawsoniidae Coelacanth fossil in Thailand.

This is Mark Mawson’s photo that I attempted to replicate. Of course I just had to forget my syringes in order to make those little blobs of paint so I had to make do🤷♀️.
Here’s his website https://t.co/BhrN4U3W3E
Glad to announce our last paper about an enigmatic mawsoniid #coelacanth from @TEC_Kimmeridge Museum, found in the Jurassic coast of England!
Very grateful with British colleagues Shane Gausden, Steve Etches, Katy Rankin, John Marshall and @NeilJGostling

A potential prey item for Spinosaurus is Axelrodichthys. (Previously known as Mawsonia.) I considered drawing Onchopristis but we've seen plenty of those already so I chose to draw the next best thing.
For my last post for #FossilFishWeek I decided to put all my drawings in one convenient post!
In order: Tiktaalik, Mawsonia, Rhizodus and Xiphactinus
