Just heard that Jean-Claude Mezieres passed away. He was most known for as the artist on the and Laureline books. His work was always amazing and inspired so many others.

Mezieres, science fiction pope, creator of Valerian, early influence of Star Wars, visual designer of the Fifth Element left us to join the stars. I remember him as the first exciting visual introduction to science fiction.

Jean-Claude Mézières RIP one of the giants of Europan cartooning. His work on Valerian, from mid-sixties until around the mid-eighties is amongst the greatest, grounded SF comics ever made. Farewell, Imaginaut.
