Impressively, Masuda also dabbled in anime. Nishizaki brought him on board the Space Battleship Yamato franchise as he was a fan of his Nikkatsu action film to give it a more live action flair. Masuda directed several of the movies including Farewell to Space Battleship Yamato.

GAPPA THE TRIPHIBIAN MONSTERS (1967).

For their only foray into cinema, Nikkatsu combined the plots of KING KONG VS. GODZILLA and GORGO to produce this decent but conventional flick.

Not bad, but it lacks the loopy charm of Godzilla and Gamera films.
